Clayton (Clay) Johnson (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #107668) has been a valuable member of the Holding Hands team since 2007. Clay is the Associate Director and Coordinator of the Adaptive Skills/Floortime™ program in Holding Hands Burbank. He is the lead trainer of the weekly DIR® training, provides mentorship for the staff at Holding Hands Burbank, and is the Floortime™ new hire lead trainer. Clay provides direct services, conducts assessments, and provides clinical supervision and parent training in DIR®/Floortime™, Adaptive Skills, PEERS (Teen Groups), Social Skills (School Aged Groups), SEEDS (Adult Groups), M-CBI, and Psychotherapy services. Clay has worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families for close to 20 years. He started as general education elementary school teacher for seven years in the Los Angeles Unified School District, then transitioned to Holding Hands in 2007. Clay has a Minor in Music, a B.A. in Education, and an M.A. in Counseling Psychology. Clay is well known within the DIR®/Floortime™ community, having been able to work and collaborate with some of the most well-known leaders the DIR® community. He believes that the rapport that you establish with clients sets the foundation for successful therapy; “When the relationship is strong, that is when real change in therapy can happen.” He prides himself in his ability to meet clients where they are and then assist them towards their goals. Holding Hands is a perfect platform for Clay to implement his inherent therapeutic traits.
